The Process

Plaster, start to finish.

One ceiling and its rooms, followed through every stage. The finish is decided long before the last pass of the trowel.

  1. Room prepared for plaster, floor protected, work lights and air handling in place beneath the ceiling

    Set the room

    Floors protected, work lights placed, air moving and moisture under control before the first coat goes on. Plaster sets to the room it is given.

  2. 02

    Lay on by hand

    Material goes on with the trowel against the ceiling, worked flat in long, even passes while it is still open.

    Tighten as it sets

    Each pass compresses the coat as it firms up. The surface closes and the first sheen comes up under the light.

    Burnish to a hard face

    The final passes burnish the plaster to a hard, closed surface that carries light the way drywall never will.

    Read it in raking light

    Every ceiling is checked with light across the surface, where a flaw has nowhere to hide. What shows is corrected before the room is released.

Veneer & Architectural Plaster FAQs

Veneer plaster is a thin, hard finish applied over a substrate. It produces a harder, more durable surface with more depth than a standard taped-and-painted drywall finish, particularly noticeable under natural light.
Tadelakt is a lime plaster traditionally used in wet areas and finished to a smooth, seamless surface. Its suitability for a specific bathroom depends on the detailing and the installation, which we plan as part of the work.
