What we collect, and what we do with it.
Charleston Brothers Construction Inc. uses the information you share with us to answer your inquiry, price and deliver your project, and keep you informed while we build. We do not sell it. Last updated September 24, 2026.

What we collect
When you contact us
Your name, email address, phone number, the project address, what you tell us about the work, and any photographs or plans you attach. We also keep a record of how you found us: the page you arrived on and, if you came from an advertisement, the campaign details and the advertiser's click identifier.
When you review a proposal
Proposal pages record when they are opened and which options you select, so we know the proposal reached you and can answer questions about it. When you accept a proposal or sign an agreement, we keep your name, the choices you made, the time, and the signature record.
When you use the project portal
The portal is open only to people we invite to a project. We hold the email address we invited, a record of each invitation and sign-in, and a sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. What you can see in the portal is decided by us, project by project, and every change to it is recorded. If you choose to sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address and confirms it belongs to you; we use nothing else from your Google account.
When you use the Charleston Brothers project portal we record when you sign in and visit, which sections and documents you view and for how long, and the type of device and browser you use, to keep an accurate project record. This activity record never includes what you type into a form; what you send us through a form is kept with your project as your answer. We keep the activity record for 24 months.
When you sign a document in the portal, we keep the document exactly as you saw it, a fingerprint of its text, your name and signature, the time, your sign-in address, your internet address, and your browser and device, so the signature can be shown to be yours later.
When you work with us as a vendor or trade partner
Your company details, insurance and license documents, and the tax and payment details needed to pay you. Tax and bank numbers are shown only to named Charleston Brothers staff, after they confirm their identity, and every view is logged.
When you browse the site
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, and Google Ads to measure whether our advertising brings inquiries. Both set cookies in your browser. We also set our own cookie, cbc_attr, which remembers for 90 days which advertisement or campaign brought you to us, so an inquiry can be credited correctly. It holds no name or contact details.
How we use it
- To answer your inquiry and prepare estimates and proposals.
- To carry out, document and account for the work we agree to do, including invoices and payments.
- To show you your project through the portal, and to email you invitations and sign-in links for it.
- To pay vendors and trade partners, and to keep the records the law requires of us.
- To understand which of our advertising and pages are useful, and improve them.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for other companies' advertising.
Who handles it for us
We use a small number of service providers, each only for the service named:
- Vercel hosts this website.
- Supabase hosts our project records and runs the portal sign-in.
- Resend delivers portal invitation and sign-in emails from portal@chsbrothers.com.
- Google provides our business email, Google sign-in, Google Analytics and Google Ads.
- Our e-signature and payment providers handle agreements you sign and payments to and from us.
We may also share information with our professional advisers, insurers and lenders on a project, with the architects, engineers and trades working on your project where the work requires it, and where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Project, contract and payment records are kept for as long as we need them to stand behind our work and meet our legal and tax obligations. Inquiries that do not become projects are kept for as long as they are useful to follow up, and then removed. Portal access ends when we remove you from a project; the record that you had access is kept. Records of portal visits and document views are kept for 24 months.
Your choices
- You can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to sales@chsbrothers.com. Some records, such as signed agreements and payment records, we are required to keep.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on. The site works without them; the portal needs its sign-in cookie to keep you signed in.
- You can ask us at any time to stop emailing you, other than the emails needed to carry out work you have engaged us for.
Security
Access to project records is limited to named Charleston Brothers staff, who sign in with their company accounts. Outside the company, people see only what we have chosen to show them on their own project. No system is perfectly secure, and if something goes wrong that affects your information, we will tell you.
Children
This site and the portal are for adults arranging construction work. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant and affects a portal account, we will tell you by email.
